  • Descolonizar los Estudios cubanos interdisciplinarios/Decolonizing Interdisciplinary Cuban Studies

diálogos desde y con Cuba/Dialogues from and with Cuba

This series publishes scholarly and creative contributions to the global field of Cuban Studies. Written in English or Spanish (or a combination), the titles in this series include monographs, edited volumes, translations of academic studies and works that combine academic and creative work around a theme or concept. The series centres on the concept of decolonization, and represents a turn towards perspectives that steer clear of cultural hegemonies and that are built on a multiplicity of voices, ideas and projects that are all integrated on equal terms and on the basis of inherent rigour. In this sense, the series aims to decolonize Cuban Studies by allowing for productive dialogue between scholars in the arts, social sciences and humanities in Cuba, and between Cuban scholars and Cubanists elsewhere. It privileges approaches and concepts that recognise ecologies of knowledge – the multiple and complex interactions between knowledge and power in Europe, the US and Latin America and the Caribbean – and it especially encourages perspectives from the Global South. It embraces interdisciplinarity and co-production and creates a unique space for local and peripheral visions of Cuba to be seen. The mission of the series is to provide a place for dialogue and new collaborations in the broad field of Cuban Studies through linking the local, the national and the transnational in productive conversations designed to decolonize our understanding of Cuba.

  • Studies in Historical Linguistics

Studies in Historical Linguistics brings together work which utilises the comparative method of language study. Topics include the examination of language change over time, the genetic classification of language, lexicography, dialectology and etymology. Pronunciation, lexis, morphology and syntax are examined within the framework of historical linguistics. Both synchronic and diachronic approaches are used so that language is examined both at one time and across time. Historical Linguistics is still a young area of academic study, but it has its foundations in one of the oldest - philology. This series recognises both the seminal importance of philology, and the recent development through the conceptual framework provided by linguistic science. Studies in Historical Linguistics is based at the Department of Media, Culture and Languages at the University of Roehampton.

  • Studies in the History of Medicine

    ISSN: 1424-7933

Studies in the History of Medicine provides an outlet for academic monographs devoted to both the social and the intellectual dimensions of the history of medicine. No limitations are imposed with respect to period or place, providing the approach adopted is analytical and historical. The series encourages investigations relating to previously neglected aspects of medicine and health care such as the history of nursing or other occupations associated with health care, case studies of particular disease and illness phenomena, health care in colonial and postcolonial settings, or indeed complementary medicine, dentistry or veterinary medicine. The monographs inevitably evaluate the impact of modern high-technology medicine, but they also give appropriate weight to health care as it relates to the elderly, the mentally ill or other vulnerable social groups. Except in special circumstances the series will not include general biographies, histories of individual institutions and organisations, or studies of parochial interest. The monographs included in this series reflect the leading edge of research in the now well-established and still expanding field of medical history. • Studies in Modern German and Austrian Literature

    ISSN: 2235-3488

Studies in Modern German and Austrian Literature is a broadly conceived series that aims to publish significant research and scholarship devoted to German and Austrian literature of all forms and genres from the eighteenth century to the present day. It includes monographs on single authors or works, focused historical periods, and studies of experimentation with form and genre. Wider ranging explorations of literary, cultural or socio-political phenomena in the German-speaking lands or among writers in exile and analyses of national, ethnic and cultural identities in literature are also welcome topics. Proposals are invited for monographs, high-quality doctoral dissertations revised for book publication, focused collections of essays (including selectively edited conference proceedings), annotated editions and bibliographies. Senior figures in the academic profession as well as early career or independent scholars are encouraged to submit proposals. All proposals and manuscripts will be peer reviewed. We publish in both German and English. This series is a successor to Studies in Modern German Literature, edited by Peter D.G. Brown.

  • Studies in Linguistics, Anglophone Literatures and Cultures

    ISSN: 2364-7558

The series Studies in Linguistics, Anglophone Literatures and Cultures focuses primarily on various aspects of both theoretical and applied linguistics. Based on a broad understanding of Anglophone literature and culture, it approaches its topics either synchronically or diachronically. In principle, its monographs and collections of articles are devoted to the English language, literatures and cultures of the English speaking countries. However, comparative or contrastive studies are also welcome. The editors, as well as numerous contributors to its volumes, are affiliated with the University of Rzeszów, but researchers representing other academic centres are by all means invited to contribute individual monographs, or collections of papers. The range of topics and theoretical approaches remains unlimited in the case of all three disciplines.
