Published by the expert for translation and terminology, Professor Michèle Cooke, the series is dedicated to studies in the field of philosophy of translation, the bioethics of intercultural communication and the public understanding of science.

New Trends in Translation Studies

In today’'s globalised society, translation and interpreting are gaining visibility and relevance as a means to foster communication and dialogue in increasingly multicultural and multilingual environments. Practised since time immemorial, both activities have become more complex and multifaceted in recent decades, intersecting with many other disciplines. New Trends in Translation Studies is an international series with the main objectives of promoting the scholarly study of translation and interpreting and of functioning as a forum for the translation and interpreting research community. This series publishes research on subjects related to multimedia translation and interpreting, in their various social roles. It is primarily intended to engage with contemporary issues surrounding the new multidimensional environments in which translation is flourishing, such as audiovisual media, the internet and emerging new media and technologies. It sets out to reflect new trends in research and in the profession, to encourage flexible methodologies and to promote interdisciplinary research ranging from the theoretical to the practical and from the applied to the pedagogical. New Trends in Translation Studies publishes translation- and interpreting-oriented books that present high-quality scholarship in an accessible, reader-friendly manner. The series embraces a wide range of publications – monographs, edited volumes, conference proceedings and translations of works in translation studies which do not exist in English. The editor, Professor Jorge Díaz-Cintas, welcomes proposals from all those interested in being involved with the series. The working language of the series is English, although in exceptional circumstances works in other languages can be considered for publication. Proposals dealing with specialised translation, translation tools and technology, audiovisual translation and the field of accessibility to the media are particularly welcomed. This series is based at the Centre for Translation Studies (CenTraS), University College London.

Studien zur Translation und Interkulturellen Kommunikation in der Romania

La série de livres est conçue comme plateforme d’orientation pluridisciplinaire, destinée aux études des domaines de la translation et de la communication interculturelle. Elle comprend autant des monographies que des recueils et des actes de colloque. Dans cette collection sont publiés des travaux qui font avancer la réflexion théorique, mais des études empiriques portant sur une problématique particulière sont également bienvenues. Le spectre thématique prend en compte la complexité de la communication interculturelle. Outre que des travaux des domaines de la linguistique, de la traductologie et des sciences de la communication, la collection prend en considération la pertinence des travaux d’orientation pratique du domaine de la recherche sur l’interculturalité. En ce qui concerne le domaine de la translation, la série comprend des études portant sur des aspects de la linguistique comparée ainsi que des analysés détaillées sur des langues de spécialité, la translation audiovisuelle, la didactique de la translation et la traduction automatisée. Die Reihe ist als interdisziplinär orientierte Publikationsplattform für Studien zur Translation und Interkulturellen Kommunikation konzipiert, wobei das Format sowohl Monographien als auch Sammelbände bzw. Tagungsakten umfassen kann. In der Reihe erscheinen einerseits Beiträge, die die Theoriebildung voranbringen, aber auch empirisch angelegte Einzelstudien sind willkommen. Cultures in Translation

Cultures in Translation. Interdisciplinary Studies in Language, Translation, Culture and Literature is a series engaging in issues of liaisons between culture and translation as well as translation-related themes within comparative studies. Books published in the series will concern the mediating role of translation in the construction of our understanding of both one’s "own" culture and the cultures of "others". The problem of the cultural dimension of translation will be addressed from a broad range of languages and cultures. The series will provide theoretical and practical guidance towards the development of culture-sensitive strategies of translation. The language of the series is English. However, we are also willing to consider relevant manuscripts in other major languages.

Die "Innsbrucker Beiträge zu Sprache, Kultur und Translation" bieten ein Forum zur Diskussion von Fragen aus der Linguistik, insbesondere der Anglistik und Romanistik. Zentrale Themen der Reihe sind dabei Studien aus dem Bereich der Übersetzungswissenschaft und Philologie. Ferner werden auch Tagungsbände publiziert. The series on Austrian Culture provides critical evaluations, in English or German, of Austrian authors, artists, works, currents, or figures from the Middle Ages to the present. Austria is defined as those parts of the old Habsburg empire that produced notable writings in the German language, including Czechoslovakia (Prague) and the Bukovina (Czernowitz). The series offers a forum for the exploration of the multifarious relationships between literature and other aspects of Austrian culture, such as philosophy, music, art, architecture, and the theater. "EUROSINICA is a book series for monographs of various thematic focuses, sharing the goal of studying culture and literature in contemporary or historical contexts. The series, under the imprint of Peter Lang, was founded in 1984 by the German sinologist Günther Debon (1921–2005) and the Canadian comparatist Adrian Hsia (1938–2010); so far, thirteen books have been published. While the founding editors placed the emphasis on the transfer processes of classical literary works and motifs between cultures, the continuation of their work requires new approaches. Rather than operate within the conceptual framework of “cultural dialogue” between an East and a West viewed as distinct entities, the series editors tend to a view of cultures in contact. EUROSINICA is accordingly open for studies and interpretation of authors, personalities, genres and individual works committed to an understanding of humanity as a common source of values which, rather than be impeded by cultural, linguistic or ethnic disparity, are being reshaped and reinvented in different settings. From the basic concept the series’ founders have contributed, we will carry on the approach to literature, the arts and history as transnational narratives emerging out of distinct contextualization and relying on as well as contributing to both the European and the Sinic cultural spheres. We explicitly welcome well-argued innovative interpretations of classical works, as we do historical and translation studies. At a time of ongoing global changes of aesthetic and critical paradigms, EUROSINICA does not intend to propose the East-West-paradigm as a last refuge for intellectual cultural conservatism, but rather envisages new critical approaches to the sporadic process of aesthetic and historical interactions (“contacts”) between formerly allegedly “separated” cultural spheres. For Authors EUROSINICA expects to publish between one and two volumes annually and aims for a balance between studies of contemporary or ancient focus. It thereby seeks to counter the trend of separating research on classical and modern issues. EUROSINICA will consider manuscripts in European languages. Scottish Studies International

The Scottish Studies International (SSI) series produced by the Faculty of Translation Studies, Linguistics and Cultural Studies of the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz in Germersheim, Germany, publishes high-quality research work from across the broad and varied spectrum of Scottish Studies. Founded in 1982 by the late Professor Horst W. Drescher, the series originally focused on literature and translation studies. Current editor, Professor Klaus Peter Müller, has since extended its scope into the fields of cultural and media studies, a widening of range and perspective that is also reflected in the faculty's bi-annual Scottish Studies Newsletter. The series aims to explore both Scotland's turbulent past and its intriguing present flux in its culture, society, politics, economy, media, art, and literature. In order to evaluate their suitability for publication, all texts submitted will be peer-reviewed by the general editor as well as by members of the editorial board. Europäische Kinder- und Jugendliteratur im interkulturellen Kontext

This series includes Ph.D. dissertations, monographs, anthologies and conference proceedings on literature for children and young adults dealing with cultural diversity in Europe. It aims to be a scientific platform for discussions about literature for children and young adults as an international and supra-national medium of cultural transfer and wants to contribute to the current discourse on the consequences and perspectives of migration. This series intends to offer a discussion forum to experienced specialists as well as to young researchers. A large spectrum of theoretical approaches is welcome within the framework of this series: comparative studies as well as publications on the history of ideas, critiques of contemporary civilisation, socio-psychological perspectives, literary theory and translation studies. English, German and French are accepted as languages of publication. Studies in Philosophy, History of Ideas and Modern Societies

Until the publication of volume 21 the title of the series was "Polish Contemporary Philosophy and Philosophical Humanities". The series aspires to present a wide and relevant overview of best Polish works in philosophy and philosophical parts of the major fields of the humanities: political and social sciences, history, religious studies or what is named in Poland "the history of ideas". The subsequent editions of books within this series are either re-editions of the works previously published in non-Polish versions, or new translations from Polish. Some books contain extended works, other ones provide collections of smaller papers. Some of the authors presented in the series are widely acknowledged and regarded to be the "classics" of Polish intellectual life in the second half of the 20th Century, others are recognized as outstanding professors today. The quality and fame of the works and authors presented in the series are the only criteria for inclusion. The series is open to all streams of Polish philosophy: from analytical philosophy, through phenomenology and hermeneutics, to existential or religious philosophies. Also the word "philosophy" should be understood very widely in this case.

The series Posener Beiträge zur Angewandten Linguistik was established in 2011 by Prof. Waldemar Pfeiffer and, until 2018, has been co-edited by Prof. Waldemar Pfeiffer and Prof. Camilla Badstübner-Kizik. From 2019 on, Prof. Maciej Karpiński is co-editing the series under the new title Poznan Studies in Applied Linguistics / Posener Beiträge zur Angewandten Linguistik. The series has been established in order to disseminate research by publishing monographs and edited collections of texts from the broad field of Applied Linguistics. The thematic range of books includes foreign language teaching, multilingualism, translation studies, linguistic aspects of culture, intercultural communication and mediation, multimodal communication, applications of spoken and written language resources and technology, application-oriented studies in psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics and pragmalinguistics. The series is intended to reflect and promote new trends in the applications of linguistic knowledge. We encourage contributions from young researchers and interdisciplinary studies, texts presenting new empirical research as well as new theoretical approaches. Die Reihe Posener Beiträge zur Angewandten Linguistik wurde 2011 von Prof. Waldemar Pfeiffer begründet und bis 2018 von ihm in Zusammenarbeit mit Prof. Camilla Badstübner-Kizik herausgegeben. Studia philosophica et historica

The series provides a forum for philosophical and historical works. It is especially appropriate for projects on the history of philosophy. A key objective is to make room for philosophical topics and issues, and especially focusing on their historical and historiographical assumptions. In addition to monographs the series also contains a number of commented text editions, translations and collections of essays. Die Schriftenreihe bietet ein Forum für philosophische, philosophiegeschichtliche und historiographische Arbeiten. Ein zentrales Motiv besteht darin, philosophische Themen und Fragestellungen unter Berücksichtigung ihrer historischen bzw. historiographischen Prämissen zur Geltung zu bringen. The editors welcome scholarly work that takes an innovative approach to German, Swiss, or Austrian history, literature, politics, philosophy, national identity, religion, popular culture, film, music, and/or visual art. We are also eager to consider projects that adopt interdisciplinary and intersectional approaches as well as studies with theoretical approaches including psychoanalysis, gender studies, feminism, Marxism, critical race studies, etc. We publish scholarly monographs, translations and edited volumes of essays in both German and English. The series Language, Literature, Translation (LeLiTrad) will gather research papers on the various fields related to humanistic and specialized translation approached from multidisciplinary perspectives. In the present collection, therefore, the collection would bring together papers on the translation of literary works from assumptions related to comparative studies, discourse analysis, or the relationships between literature and other arts; Also, the collection would be hosting research papers on disciplines like terminology, applied linguistics, and specialized translation in a variety of fields (such as legal, bio-sanitary, agri-food, technical, hybrid texts, veterinary sciences, economic sciences, translation for citizen security and translation for social affairs, audiovisual translation, para-translation, etc.). Next to these, research papers focused on different aspects of translation like theoretical essays and work on inter-language interpretation will also be accepted and assessed for publication. In short, the series Language, Literature, Translation aims to offer the specialized readers all theoretical and practical aspects hinging around the translation of texts and interpretation of speeches, so that they may contribute to the critical debate and the resulting enrichment of the discipline both in Spain and in the wider European context. La colección Lengua, Literatura, Traducción (LeLiTrad) reúne los distintos ámbitos relacionados con la traducción humanística y especializada desde una perspectiva multidisciplinar. En este sentido, abordamos desde esta colección la traducción literaria de obras desde presupuestos relacionados con la comparatística, el análisis del discurso, o la relación de la literatura con otras artes; por otro lado, la colección acoge trabajos sobre terminología, lingüística aplicada, y traducción especializada en sus múltiples ámbitos (jurídico, biosanitario, agroalimentario, técnico, textos híbridos, ciencias veterinarias, ciencias económicas, traducción para la inclusión, traducción para la seguridad de la ciudadanía y traducción social, traducción audiovisual, paratraducción, etc.). Junto a estos trabajos destinados a las distintas vertientes de la traducción también se contemplarán trabajos de tipo teórico sobre traductología e interpretación.En definitiva, la colección Lengua, Literatura, Traducción pretende mostrar todos los aspectos tanto teóricos como prácticos en torno a la traducción de los textos y a la interpretación de los discursos, de forma que contribuyan al debate crítico y al enriquecimiento de la disciplina dentro de España y en su contexto europeo.

Interfaces

The series explores issues in theoretical and applied linguistics, psycholinguistics, psychology of language and translation studies. While the volumes published in the series may present research in language, mind and translation seen as separate provenances, the overall aim of the series is to pinpoint possible interfaces occurring between them (for example between psycholinguistics and translation studies, psycholinguistics and cognitive linguistics, cognitive linguistics and translation, etc.) as well as to uncover mutual interaction between these branches of science and other research areas, such as philosophy, media studies, education, multimodality and culture. The books within the series focus primarily on linguistics, which remains the main theme of the series, but they also include a wide range of topics traditionally investigated by a number of neighbouring disciplines, which are interwoven with language studies and inscribe within a wider framework of contemporary linguistics. The series presents studies conducted by Polish scholars, in particular by those affiliated with Bydgoszcz, and by our colleagues and research partners representing other universities. We also welcome submissions (monographs, collections of articles and post-conference volumes) from all those interested in issues remaining within the broad scope of the series themes. Die wissenschaftliche Buchreihe "Saarbrücker Beiträge zur Sprach- und Translationswissenschaft" (Sabest) wurde im Jahr 1999 anläßlich des 50jährigen Jubiläums der Fachrichtung Angewandte Sprachwissenschaft sowie Übersetzen und Dolmetschen der Universität des Saarlandes gegründet. Den ersten Band bilden somit die 560seitigen Kongreßakten dieses Events, die unter dem Titel Modelle der Translation – Grundlagen für Methodik, Bewertung und Computermodellierung einen Überblick über die verschiedenen Perspektiven vermitteln, aus denen sich die Wissenschaft heute den Fragen der Translation zuwendet. Diese weite Sicht und die Vernetzung der Translationswissenschaft mit anderen Disziplinen charakterisieren die Ausrichtung der Buchreihe. Zugrunde liegt die Überzeugung, daß die eigentümlichen wissenschaftlichen Fragestellungen des Übersetzens und Dolmetschens ihren Ausgangspunkt im Phänomen der Sprache und des Schrifttums nehmen, so daß die Sprach-, Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaften im Zentrum translatorischen Geschehens stehen. The Warsaw Studies in English Language and Literature came into being in 2009 as a series published by Warsaw Division of the Lodz Academy of Management. Eight volumes have come out to date. In the area of Linguistics special emphasis will be laid on works on Historical English Linguistics, Congnitive Linguistics, Pragmatics and Text Linguistics as well as translation studies. In the area of literature the series will focus on English medieval literature, medievalism, contemporary English literature, post colonial as well as American Literature. The series is open to scholars from Poland and abroad. Particular attention will be given to the development of Christian theology during the first five centuries of the Church and to the different types of Biblical interpretation which the Fathers used.
