Literary and Cultural Studies, Theory and the (New) Media

Literary and Cultural Studies, Theory and the (New) Media provides a forum for discussions on a variety of topics in literary, cultural, and media studies. Open to comparatist approaches, the series main venue is in anglophone literature and media, with a special emphasis on narratological, postcolonial, film and media studies. Dedicated to promoting innovative and theoretically informed analyses, the series publishes monographs as well as edited volumes versed in media and literary theory. It also encourages explorations within, as well as dialogues between, narratological, postcolonial, feminist and queer approaches. Other theoretical approaches (stylistics, New Historicism, ecocriticism, etc.) are welcome as are works on literary and cultural theory. All volumes in the series are peer-reviewed. Monographs: Only complete manuscripts are accepted for review. Edited volumes: A proposal with two essays is solicited; a final decision will be taken after all the essays have been submitted in their final form. American Culture

American Culture is a series of publications specializing in literary and cultural studies. We welcome publications on literature, literary and cultural theory, history, theater, film and the arts. On the board of editors are members of the English/American language and history departments at the universities of Hamburg and Berlin (FU and HU). Die Reihe American Culture veröffentlicht Monographien aus der Anglistik/Amerikanistik und geht dabei insbesondere auf Literaturtheorie und Kulturwissenschaften ein. Weitere thematische Schwerpunkte der Reihe liegen in den Bereichen der Geschichts-, Kunst- sowie Theater- und Filmwissenschaft. Herausgegeben wird die Reihe von Professoren der Universität Hamburg und der Freien Universität Berlin sowie der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

Europäische Kinder- und Jugendliteratur im interkulturellen Kontext

This series includes Ph.D. dissertations, monographs, anthologies and conference proceedings on literature for children and young adults dealing with cultural diversity in Europe. It aims to be a scientific platform for discussions about literature for children and young adults as an international and supra-national medium of cultural transfer and wants to contribute to the current discourse on the consequences and perspectives of migration. This series intends to offer a discussion forum to experienced specialists as well as to young researchers. A large spectrum of theoretical approaches is welcome within the framework of this series: comparative studies as well as publications on the history of ideas, critiques of contemporary civilisation, socio-psychological perspectives, literary theory and translation studies. English, German and French are accepted as languages of publication. Sie soll sowohl erfahrenen Spezialisten der Kinder- und Jugendliteratur als auch jungen Wissenschaftlern als Plattform dienen. Die Reihe bietet sowohl komparatistischen, mentalitätsgeschichtlich, kulturkritisch oder sozialpsychologisch ausgerichteten Untersuchungen als auch literatur- oder übersetzungstheoretischen Abhandlungen Raum. Pegisha – Begegnung / Pegisha – Encounters

The series Pegisha Encounters. Jewish Studies is a forum for connecting inquiries on literary theory and philosophy with studies of Jewish culture. Its editor is the comparatist Dorothee Gelhard. Special emphasis will be placed on experiences of European modernity. Volumes concerning topics such as cultural remembrance, assimilation or secularization will also be included. Manuscript proposals may be sent directly to the editor. Die Reihe Pegisha Begegnung. Jüdische Studien ist ein Forum, um Studien über jüdische Kultur mit literaturtheoretischen und philosophischen Fragestellungen zu verbinden. Sie wird von der Komparatistin Dorothee Gelhard herausgegeben. Die Erfahrungen mit der europäischen Moderne stehen dabei im Vordergrund. Aufgenommen werden auch Bände, die sich mit Themen wie kultureller Erinnerung, Assimilation oder Säkularisation beschäftigen. Manuskriptvorschläge direkt an die Herausgeberin sind möglich.

Studies in Classical Literature and Culture

The series explores a wide range of topics within classical studies concentrating on Greek and Latin language, ancient literature and culture as well as its reception. It includes monographs, collections of articles and critical editions presented by scholars from around the world and aims to bring together modern approaches like literary theory and cultural studies with traditional philology represented by textual criticism. Encouraging an interdisciplinary point of view it aims at giving a comprehensive picture of new trends and recent achievements in classics.

Aachen British and American Studies / Aachener Studien zur Anglistik und Amerikanistik

This series has been terminated after vol. 20. This series includes in-depth studies, dissertations, and edited volumes on a broad range of topics in the fields of language theory, applied linguistics, corpus linguistics, British and American literary and cultural studies and foreign language teaching. Each volume is embedded in the specialized research areas of the Department of English, American and Romance Studies at RWTH Aachen University. Band 20 schließt diese Reihe ab. Die vorliegende Reihe umfasst Einzeluntersuchungen, Dissertationen und Aufsatzsammlungen zu einem breiten Spektrum von Forschungsthemen in den Bereichen Sprachtheorie, Angewandte Linguistik, Korpuslinguistik, Britische und Amerikanische Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaft und Fremdsprachendidaktik. Die einzelnen Bände der Reihe stehen im Kontext der Forschungsschwerpunkte des Instituts für Anglistik, Amerikanistik und Romanistik an der RWTH Aachen.

Mikrokosmos

Wolfgang Harms established the Mikrokosmos series in 1974 and was later joined by Peter Strohschneider as co-editor. In 2015, editorial responsibility was taken over by Frieder von Ammon and Michael Waltenberger. The monographs and anthologies published in this series focus on subjects in the field of German-speaking literature from the distant past right up to the present. Areas of contact with neighbouring literature, relations to other forms of art, and interrelationships with cultural contexts are also addressed. Particular focus lies on studies that analyse their subject matter in great depth, combined with extensive conceptual and methodical reflection, to produce advanced contributions to topics currently under discussion in the field of literature theory. Die Reihe Mikrokosmos wurde 1974 von Wolfgang Harms gegründet, später von ihm gemeinsam mit Peter Strohschneider herausgegeben. Seit 2015 liegt die Herausgeberschaft bei Frieder von Ammon und Michael Waltenberger. Die Monographien und Sammelbände der Reihe befassen sich mit Themen aus dem Gesamtbereich der deutschsprachigen Literatur von ihren Anfängen bis zur Gegenwart. Kontaktzonen zu den Nachbarliteraturen, Beziehungen zu den anderen Künsten und Wechselwirkungen mit kulturellen Kontexten werden mitbeachtet. Einen Schwerpunkt bilden Studien, die mit dem präzisen analytischen Zugriff auf ihren Gegenstand einen hohen Grad an konzeptueller und methodischer Reflexion verbinden und auf diese Weise avancierte Beiträge zu aktuellen literaturtheoretischen Diskussionen liefern können.

Nordeuropäische Arbeiten zur Literatur, Sprache und Kultur / Northern European Studies in Literature, Language and Culture

The object of these interdisciplinary series is above all studies from the Nordic countries which deal with questions in the field of literary, linguistic and cultural studies. Special emphasis is placed on phenomena of interculturality and transculturality respectively as well as on aspects of the teaching and learning of other languages. Against this background these series at the same time aim to close a gap between theory and practical use. Gegenstand der interdisziplinär angelegten Reihe sind Arbeiten vor allem aus den nordischen Ländern, die sich mit literatur-, sprach- und kulturwissenschaftlichen Fragestellungen beschäftigen. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt liegt auf Phänomenen der Inter- bzw. Transkulturalität sowie auf Aspekten des Lehrens und Lernens anderer Sprachen. Vor diesem Hintergrund versteht die Reihe sich zugleich als Brückenschlag zwischen Theorie und Praxis.
