The series Sources and Studies in Music History from Antiquity to the Present treats a wide range of musicological subjects from antiquity to the present day. There are editions of unknown or forgotten musical sources, biographies of composers, monographs, collections of articles and lectures. Its intention is to promote the dialogue between historical, comparative, and interdisciplinary studies, including recent developments in musicology and musical theory. Die Reihe Quellen und Studien zur Musikgeschichte von der Antike bis in die Gegenwart beschäftigt sich mit einer großen Bandbreite von musikwissenschaftlichen Themen von der Antike bis in die neueste Zeit. Hier erscheinen Quelleneditionen unbekannter oder vergessener Musikwerke, Komponistenbiographien und Monographien sowie Schriften und Vorträge. Die Reihe nimmt aber auch epochenübergreifende und interdisziplinäre Entwicklungen zum Anlass für vergleichende Studien. Ebenso werden aktuelle Entwicklungen der Musikwissenschaft und Musiktheorie als Forschungsfeld aufgegriffen.

This series presents texts and studies on the history of the German language in North America, which spans more than 300 years. It invites scholars in all fields of German studies and colleagues from related academic disciplines (American studies, modern history, ethnology, migration research, etc.). The volumes published so far have been primarily concerned with issues of the German Language in 19th century North America. Keywords with regard to language history are “war diaries”, “emigrant letters”, “language regionality”, “German-English language interference”, “grammar”, “learning German for native speakers of English”, and so on. Die Reihe legt Textdokumente und Einzeluntersuchungen zur über dreihundertjährigen Geschichte der deutschen Sprache in Nordamerika vor. Sie ist für Germanisten wie auch für die Fachkollegenschaft aus benachbarten Disziplinen (Amerikanistik, Neuere Geschichte, Volkskunde, Migrationsforschung u. a.) konzipiert. In den bisher erschienenen Bänden stehen vor allem Fragestellungen zur deutschen Sprache im Nordamerika des 19. Jahrhunderts im Vordergrund. "EUROSINICA is a book series for monographs of various thematic focuses, sharing the goal of studying culture and literature in contemporary or historical contexts. The series, under the imprint of Peter Lang, was founded in 1984 by the German sinologist Günther Debon (1921–2005) and the Canadian comparatist Adrian Hsia (1938–2010); so far, thirteen books have been published. While the founding editors placed the emphasis on the transfer processes of classical literary works and motifs between cultures, the continuation of their work requires new approaches. Rather than operate within the conceptual framework of “cultural dialogue” between an East and a West viewed as distinct entities, the series editors tend to a view of cultures in contact. EUROSINICA is accordingly open for studies and interpretation of authors, personalities, genres and individual works committed to an understanding of humanity as a common source of values which, rather than be impeded by cultural, linguistic or ethnic disparity, are being reshaped and reinvented in different settings. From the basic concept the series’ founders have contributed, we will carry on the approach to literature, the arts and history as transnational narratives emerging out of distinct contextualization and relying on as well as contributing to both the European and the Sinic cultural spheres. We explicitly welcome well-argued innovative interpretations of classical works, as we do historical and translation studies. At a time of ongoing global changes of aesthetic and critical paradigms, EUROSINICA does not intend to propose the East-West-paradigm as a last refuge for intellectual cultural conservatism, but rather envisages new critical approaches to the sporadic process of aesthetic and historical interactions (“contacts”) between formerly allegedly “separated” cultural spheres. For Authors EUROSINICA expects to publish between one and two volumes annually and aims for a balance between studies of contemporary or ancient focus. It thereby seeks to counter the trend of separating research on classical and modern issues. EUROSINICA will consider manuscripts in European languages. The series editors and board members are scholars at universities in the Baltic and Nordic countries of Europe, as well as in mainland China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. The aim of the series Worlds of East Asia of the Swiss Asia Society is to publish high-quality, representative work issuing from academic research on all aspects of East Asia. It comprises, and receives, studies on present-day and historical East Asian cultures and societies covering the fields of art, literature and thought as well as translations and interpretations of important sources. Furthermore the series intends to present studies that offer expert knowledge on relevant themes and current questions appealing not only to the academic public, but also to an audience generally interested in East Asia. One important goal of the series is to establish a forum for academic work in the fields of the humanities and social sciences in Switzerland. However, the series is also committed to the rich variety of studies and writing on East Asia in the international research community. The main publication languages for studies, collections (by individual or several contributors), and surveys are therefore German, French, and English. The series is supervised and internally reviewed by an editorial board comprising leading representatives in East Asian studies. La série Mondes de l’Extrême-Orient de la Société Suisse-Asie publie des recherches de qualité représentatives de la recherche académique sur les cultures et sociétés de l’Asie orientale. Elle propose des études dans des domaines variés comme l’art, la littérature, et la pensée, anciens ou modernes, ainsi que des traductions et interprétations de sources. Elle publie également des travaux qui traitent de questions plus actuelles ou immédiates, de façon compétente mais abordable, avec le souhait de toucher, au-delà des cercles académiques, le grand public cultivé. The series „Varia Musicologica" treats a wide range of subjects from all fields of musicology. The editions, monographs and collections present the latest research from the music of the Middle Ages to new forms of music culture and adapt historical, cultural-historical, musical-aesthetic, biographical, analytical or source-critical methods. Foreign Language Teaching in Europe

Foreign Language Teaching in Europe is a series focusing on dissemination of ideas, experiences, and research on modern language pedagogy and language teacher education from sources throughout Europe and beyond. This series aspires to represent the field in its diversity and forms a forum for the expansion of contributions on modern language learning. Thus, this series’ ambition is to be of a high quality, and innovative, and to stimulate further research in the field. The editors of this series welcome submissions of monographs and edited volumes in the field of modern language pedagogy. The series Research on Korea responds to the fact that interest in Korea and the need for reliable information on the country's history and present have risen considerably during the last decades, both in- and outside of academia. The series offers an interdisciplinary platform for academic works engaging with Korea. Not being restricted to specific methodological or historiographical approaches, the series is open for studies of Korea in any field as long as they make use of Korean primary sources and systematically engage with Korean language secondary literature. Based on solid methodology, the studies assembled in this series aim to open up paths for new insights and new research questions on Korea and Korea's role in the regional and international context. In der Schriftenreihe Research on Korea werden neuere Ergebnisse der Koreaforschung veröffentlicht, um dem in den letzten Jahrzehnten stark gesteigerten Interesse der akademischen und allgemeinen Öffentlichkeit an verlässlichen Informationen zu Korea nachzukommen. Sie bietet ihr eine interdisziplinäre Plattform, ohne sich dabei methodisch oder historiographisch bestimmten Richtungen verpflichtet zu fühlen. "In ihrer neuen Editionsreihe veröffentlicht die Schweizerische Musikforschende Gesellschaft (SMG) Kompositionen mit Schweizer Kontext in kritischer Edition. Die Grundlage für eine erste Auswahl an bedeutsamen Werken schuf das vom Schweizerischen Nationalfonds getragene Projekt Musik aus Schweizer Klöstern und dessen Folgeprojekte am Institut für Musikwissenschaft der Universität Freiburg i. Ü.; ein umfangreiches Forschungsvorhaben, an dem auch die Arbeitsstelle Schweiz des Répertoire International des Sources Musicales (RISM) und die Schweizer Nationalphonothek beteiligt sind. Ziel ist es, musikalische Quellen aus dem 17., 18. und 19. Jahrhundert, die sich in Schweizer Klöstern erhalten haben, zu sichten, zu untersuchen und in ihren historischen und liturgischen Zusammenhängen zu deuten. Die ausgewählten Kompositionen sind in verschiedener Hinsicht repräsentativ: Bestimmte Quellen erlauben es zum Beispiel, den Vorgang der Beschaffung und der oftmals erfindungsreichen Adaption von Musikalien zu rekonstruieren, als deren Provenienz häufig die katholischen Gegenden des Alpenraums oder die grossen Musikmetropolen Europas zu eruieren sind. Andere Werke wurden von den Konventualen der einzelnen Klostergemeinschaften für ihre eigene Musikpflege komponiert und blieben bis heute an Ort aufbewahrt. Sie sind wichtige Zeugen spezifischer liturgischer und musikalischer Praktiken und nicht selten Beispiele für die Leichtigkeit, mit welcher die Musiker der Peripherie verschiedene gängige Stile handhabten. Es wurden jedoch von den Klöstern auch gezielt Werke bei prestigeträchtigen externen Autoren in Auftrag gegeben. Und nicht zuletzt finden sich in den Sammlungen musikalische Kostbarkeiten, die zufällig erhalten geblieben sind: Da die Schweiz weitgehend von Kriegszerstörungen verschont wurde, trifft man in den Klosterbibliotheken bisweilen auf Unika von geradezu spektakulärem historischem und ästhetischem Wert. Das Editionsprojekt beabsichtigt, wichtige Forschungslücken zu schliessen und die Vielfalt musikalischer Zeugnisse historisch zu beleuchten, um damit eine ungemein reiche Seite der schweizerischen Kulturgeschichte sichtbar zu machen. Die mit einem quellenkritischen Apparat versehenen Ausgaben wenden sich gleichermassen an die Wissenschaft wie an die musikalische Praxis mit der Intention, das Wissen um ein reichhaltiges Repertoire an geistlicher Musik aus drei Jahrhunderten zu bereichern. Denn erst im Erklingen findet diese Musik ihre Bestimmung, entsprechend den häufig aufwändig restaurierten Kirchenbauten zeugt sie von der eindrucksvollen Blütezeit der katholischen Kirchenmusiktradition."
