  • North American Studies in Nineteenth-Century German Literature and Culture

    ISSN: 2235-3496

"This series of scholarly works focuses on literature and other cultural artifacts produced during the long nineteenth century in German-speaking lands. The series includes studies in criticism and literary history, as well as analyses of the social and political dimensions of literature and culture. The aim of the series is to offer contributions by North American scholars who have rediscovered once significant authors, genres or modes of production and consumption; reevaluated canonical or other texts and their contexts; or explored other forms of expression, such as journalism, letters or diaries. This scholarship serves to renew our understanding and appreciation of a body of work that was acknowledged as internationally important in the nineteenth century and that still speaks to us today." ISSN: 2191-3285

"The aim of the series is to place migration and ethnicity in the context of both local and global history. The comprehensive approach demands that both old and new migration patterns are dealt with. The notion of the Immigration threat calls for a debate on hopes and limits of the cultural pluralism in Europe and in North America. The issues which are addressed in the book series include among other: inter-ethnic relations; changing patterns of Community building, new sense of belonging, religion and ethnicity nowadays, construction and reinvention of identity, and trans-nationalism. • Sprache und Digitalkultur / Language and Digital Culture

    ISSN: 2626-3394

With the advent of digitization, communication with and between machines increasingly plays a role in interpersonal interactions. What will the future look like: will algorithms become more important than argumentation? Will societal discussions and decisions be replaced by big data analyses? What role will social media play, and how will communication work there? Will we still be telling stories in the future, while algorithms will be writing history? In short, how will information technology, social robots and artificial intelligence alter our existing understandings of communication in the emerging digital age? This book series aims to provide an interdisciplinary forum for both empirical and theoretical discussions of the relationship between language and digital culture. Book proposals are welcome and may be sent to either the editorial board or the publisher. The languages of publication are German and English.
